Presents

“Immigration Initiatives in New York State:

Where Do We Go From Here?”

With all the hateful anti-immigrant shouting during this campaign season, many think that no effort to improve immigrants’ lives can succeed. This panel presentation by four advocates working on the frontlines with immigrants in New York State will consider various initiatives taking place that would better the lives and futures of New York State’s immigrant families: efforts to mitigate the deportation dragnet by limiting the cooperation between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and local and state law enforcement officers; enable immigrants to obtain drivers’ licenses; pass the NYS DREAM Act and the Farmworker Fair Labor Practices Act; and organize dairy farmworkers to improve their working conditions.
