Downtown Presbyterian Church
121 North Fitzhugh Street, Rochester

The program is free and open to the public.
Wheelchair-accessible and looped for the hearing impaired.

What is life like in Puerto Rico after the hurricane? And how has the United States government contributed – both historically and today – to the devastation in Puerto Rico? Please join us for a conversation with two volunteers – Betsy Colón and Mike Wall – who recently completed a humanitarian project in Puerto Rico. Learn more about their work and how you can help their organization, Livingston CARES, continue to support recovery on the island. In addition, Aurora Santiago-Ortiz will join us virtually to share her perspectives on the geopolitical situation of Puerto Rico. Santiago-Ortiz will discuss how the United States government’s paternalistic relationship with the island made it particularly vulnerable to natural disaster.
