ROCLA Presents . . .
When the Condor and the Eagle Meet: Solidarity Delegations as a Way to Create a Better World
with Professor Esperanza Roncero, Nazareth College
When: June 6, 2018, 7 PM
Where: Downtown United Presbyterian Church
In this unique program, Professor Roncero will share the indigenous wisdom she learned living in the Andes for many years. There, spirituality and everyday life are one and the same. Everything in the Andes is based on relationships–relationships to other humans, to animals, the mountains, to the sun and moon, to plants. Andean wisdom is based on a profound spirituality that manifests itself from humans’ interaction with Mother Earth.
Professor Roncero will discuss the ways in which the Western world can come to understand indigenous thinking, and how the values and practices of capitalism in the United States and other Western societies negatively impact all. She will explain the power of participating in delegations as a means to first transform ourselves, and then to work for a greater dialogue among the different people who share this earth. Ultimately, such dialogue will bring about social justice for all, resulting in defending the rights of all people and of Mother Earth.
Free and open to the public; the church is accessible to those with handicaps and looped for the hearing impaired.
